Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) involve the use of powerful oxidising intermediates like the hydroxyl radical – OH, and sulphate radicals SO4 – that can oxidise and degrade pollutants from contaminated water. The term advanced is used because the reactions are much faster compared to normal oxidation.

AOPs oxidise a broad range of contaminants, and if given sufficient treatment time, they can completely mineralise organic contaminants into CO₂, H₂O and mineral acids. Complete mineralisation, in most cases, is not necessary nor cost effective.

AOP has a wide range of applications including drinking water, sewage recycling, and industrial wastewater. Our selection of the most suitable AOP is dependent on the application and the type of contaminants to be removed.
