HYDROXON™ Technology

The core technology utilised by Infinite Water is in the category of non-ozone based Catalytic Advanced Oxidation (CAO).  Catalytic Advanced Oxidation (CAO) is a subclass of Advanced Oxidation (AO) processes, where hydroxyl radicals are produced via a catalytic process. AO processes rely on in-situ production of highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (·OH).

These reactive species are the strongest oxidants that can be applied in water and can virtually oxidize any compound present in the water matrix. Consequently, ·OH reacts unselectively once formed and contaminants will be quickly and efficiently fragmented and converted into small inorganic molecules.

Traditional Advanced Oxidation (AO) holds several advantages that are unparalleled in the field of water treatment, including elimination of organic compounds in the aqueous phase, rather than collecting or transferring pollutants into another phase.

Advanced oxidation (AO) processes are also particularly appropriate for effluents containing refractory (difficult to breakdown e.g. pesticides), toxic or non-biodegradable materials and heavy metals.

Historically, however, CAO and AO processes have had higher capital and operational costs than biological (e.g. Membrane Bioreactors) or physical (e.g. Ozone Oxidation) systems.  Hence, the complexity of the equipment, high capital cost and high energy usage  limited potential applications.

Infinite Water has overcome these drawbacks through its innovative HYDROXON™ process. The Infinite Water HYDROXON™ process utilises specific filtration and catalytic advanced oxidation reactors to produce arguably the most capable, cost effective, reliable and energy efficient water treatment systems in the world.
